Picture Intermission – Moto Social at Clutch

The second wednesday of every month (April through October), an organization called “Moto Social” hosts a get together for motorcyclists and anyone that’s interested in motorcycling. This week, they had the event at a restaurant I’m fond of: Clutch! Let’s see what bikes showed up…

A quick note about Clutch – I met the owner (Oscar Hermosillo) through a mutual friend and Oscar has been incredibly supportive of Iconic ever since. He’s catered multiple events at our hangar and is a consumate car/bike guy. Meet Oscar:

And check out what he showed up in! Unfortunately, it blew a belt as he was pulling in so I couldn’t get a video for you to hear it:

I could at least get some photos after the car was pushed into the parking lot. It features a Chevy 350 engine, the body from a early 30s (I think he said 1931?) Ford Model A though the hood/front is from a truck, disc brakes inside the drums, and…not much in terms of suspension or passenger comfort.

What I liked about this get-together is that there was a wide variety of bikes. Here are some of my favorites, in no particular order:

I appreciated that someone rode by on a Transalp – as far as I could tell it was totally coincidental as I don’t think he came by the meet up.

I think you guys are familiar enough with the Tesi by now. The lovely Royal Enfield next to it belongs to Rama of the Royal Enfield Los Angeles Owners Club.

Later in the evening I realized that there were still a bunch of cool bikes that I hadn’t gotten photos of yet because I was so busy catching up with friends I hadn’t seen in a while. So I made a pass through the parking lot but I apologize as the photo quality is noticeably worse with the lack of light:

It’s been a while since I’ve seen a Kawasaki Z H2 – I did a review from the launch of this bike for Cycle News at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and I still miss that supercharged motor.

Speaking of reviews, I asked Yamaha if they’d loan me a MT-09 after my First Ride review for some video coverage. Our photographer Gray has been getting some shots on it and he showed up at the event on it. At one point he texted me out of the blue: “I think I’ve become a triple fan.” That motor will definitely convert some people.

Those were some of my highlights from the evening – what was your favorite?
