I figured after the $1.4 million cruiser, I owed you a cruiser that would make you smile instead of laugh. Hopefully this does the trick, because I have a soft spot for reliable riders that look like they’ve just gone through hell. This UL, named Plain Jane, has been ridden from Florida all over the country and it sure looks like it’s seen the world a few times over.
This bike (VIN: 48UL1604) was on the cover of Cycle Source in November 2008 and it’s one of 970 ’48 UL models. There’s obviously some modifications but most are within the Harley family. The handlebars and risers are vintage Flanders units, the open chain primary was replaced with a belt drive, the generator has been upgraded, and it has a Adam Croft seat. Some photos show the bike from a cross country trip a year ago, the bike currently comes with a tin primary, wheels with discovers, and no spotlamps.
