Plated Street Tracker – 1999 ATK 605

In America, Dual-Sport by AbhiLeave a Comment

ATK made quite a name for themselves by being an American version of Bimota for enduros – taking a well-proven engine and then making an exotic frame to get everything out of the powerplant. In this case, they took a venerable 600cc Rotax and then turned it into one of the best handling bikes of the day.

ATK 605 - Rear Right

When these bikes were released, Motorcycle.com had the following to say:

“The ATK four strokes have the undisputed, trickest frame in the business…this cool asymmetric flying “V” chrome moly backbone is a feather weight that makes the engine a stressed member. When ATK builds these models, the frame is bolted onto the motor, rather than the motor being bolted into the frame. It’s awesome…Quite frankly, ATK continues to amaze us with a world class product built here in the USA by a small cadre of dedicated motorcycle enthusiasts.”

This example comes with an electric starter, Mychron 3 Plus digital gauges, and a few other things (mirrors/sidestand/etc) to make it street legal. It weighs just 280 pounds and has some new parts – top end, cam drive belt, exhaust plating, and rear tire.
