Post-Sale Update: This PDV Gringo 360 sold for $2,801 after 30 bids on eBay.
Power-Dyne Vehicles (also known as PDV) produced several motorcycles in the early 70s, nearly all of which were copies of something else on the market. The PDV Gringo was a knock-off of Yamaha motocross engines and Champion frames – the story is that PDV was put out of business because Champion sued for infringement.
The Gringo was built for just 2 years (the seller claims that just 112 were built) and it was available in two displacements – a 250cc and this 360 (352cc) version. Highlights include a 5-speed transmission, Betor forks and shocks, and a claimed weight of 215 pounds. While Power-Dyne claimed that the bikes were assembled in the US, rumor has it that they were actually built in Taiwan (not that it matters anymore). This specific PDV Gringo (VIN: 30164) is being offered by the second owner, and it’s claimed to run well. The motor has never been apart, and it has the original tires, grips, and seat cover.
