Almost all the press releases I get sent are boring nonsense about how this year’s model is 2.8 pounds lighter than last year’s model (and why that makes this year’s bike the greatest thing since slice bread), so I usually don’t bother sharing them on the site. This press release from Victory, however, is worth a closer look. Urs Pedraita (known as Grizzly) is going to be riding a Victory Cross Country in n attempt to ride around the world (through six continents) in less than 100 days. Your first question is probably, “what’s the current record?” Glad you asked – it’s 120.
Grizzly – who is a Swiss endurance biker – will start from Daytona, Florida on March 11th and will hope to finish on May 20th. The bike will be equipped with a 8.7 gallon fuel tank, custom seat, two large LED headlights, and multiple nav systems. I’ve been told he also plans on ‘putting wheels on the ground’ in Antarctica but it’s unclear if that’s going to be done in the time limit or not. Either way, if your interest is piqued, you can follow Grizzly on his site here. Or go to this page for his position, which you can bookmark and then follow over the length of the trip.
Grizzly is no stranger to this kind of thing – back in 2013 he covered 9,000 miles in 37 days on a Victory Cross Country, in the winter (hence all the photos I’m sharing, which are courtesy of Victory Motorcycles).
