Modern retros are extremely popular at the moment and it’s not hard to see why. These bikes come with classic vintage aesthetics, the reliability of a modern bike, a few of today’s bells and whistles and they’re built to be easily modified and customized. But just because customization can be done easily on these bikes doesn’t mean it always is. The folks over at Ducati-Triumph New York have put together one of the cleanest “frankenbikes” I’ve ever seen, titled “Project Mayhem”.
Starting off with a 2013 Triumph Bonneville, they used various Triumph and Ducati parts to create the custom build you see today. In addition to Triumph, British Customs and Ducati parts, a myriad of other aftermarket components were also utilized for this project. In a world full of customized modern-retros (and retro-retros), the quality and attention to detail on this bike is what makes it stand out. Additionally, rather than a end result that looks like a bunch of custom parts thrown together, this motorcycle looks like one cohesive and calculated final product.
The Bonnie has a slew of custom parts such as LED lights and signals, side panels, front and rear fenders, gauges, velour seat, countershaft cover, CRG bar-end mirrors, clip-ons, fender eliminator, BC rectifier/regulator relocation kit, and the headlight on the bike comes from a Ducati. The customized and bored 865cc T100 engine sits in a custom frame that’s been powder coated along with the wheels and tank. K&N filtration and Rizoma race components have been used throughout and the custom 2-1 exhaust comes from British customs.
Surprisingly this bike was completed a few years ago, though you’d never know it from looking at it. Its appearance looks modern and has a clean simplistic flavor to it that’s often lost on custom bikes. While this bike does have 3,200 miles on it, the GM of the dealership where it’s being sold describes it as being in mint condition and when you run a Ducati dealership, I imagine you don’t just toss that word around. You can find this one-off 2013 Triumph Bonneville for sale here on Craigslist in NYC with a price of $14,000.
