Question Intermission – What To Buy For $29K?

In Intermissions by AbhiLeave a Comment

While I was writing my review of the Ducati Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak, I couldn’t shake a question – if I had $28,995 to spend on bikes at a US dealership right now, would I blow it all on the (very impressive) Ducati or would I get two cheaper bikes? Then I decided I wanted to hear what you thought…

To make it explicitly clear – your answers can only include brand new 2021/2022 models at MSRP. We’re shooting for a total of $28,995, but I figure it’s not a dealbreaker if you end up a couple hundred bucks over. Make your high school math teacher proud and show your work!

For what it’s worth, my answer is:
1. 2022 BMW R1250GS with Premium Package – $22,695. This is generally my “if I could only have one bike” answer.
2. 2021 Kawasaki Ninja 400 ABS in Pearl Nightshade Teal/Metallic Spark Black – $5,399. I was on the fence about either getting a cheap dirt bike or a cheap track bike, and today I’m feeling tracky.

That’s a total of: $28,094. You could throw a Honda Navi in there just for fun as a pit bike/errand runner still only be ~$800 over the Multi’s price.

If I was trying to get more for my money, my answer would instead be:
1. 2021 Honda Africa Twin – $14,399.
2. 2021 Kawasaki Ninja 400 ABS in Pearl Nightshade Teal/Metallic Spark Black – $5,399.
3. 2022 Gas Gas EX250F – $9,299.

That’s a total of: $29,097, which is just $102 more than the Multi’s MSRP.

So, what would your $29K motorcycle garage look like? And no problem if your answer is just one premium bike – I’m hoping to see a wide variety of answers to reflect a wide variety of Bike-urious readers!
