R100 Motor – 1982 BMW R65LS

The R65LS gets more attention than it probably deserves thanks to the striking Hans Muth-designed fairing, but one of the common complaints was that the ~45 horsepower twin didn’t back up the futuristic-in-the-80s looks. A previous owner of this machine apparently agreed, as it’s been given the heart of a R100. It’s not clear which form of the R100 motor was used, so the new power could range from 60-70 hp, but it’s going to be a healthy bump regardless!

For more on the R65LS, check out this story on Motorcycle Classics. In addition to the swapped motor, this example (VIN: WB1036508C6370744) comes with Krauser bags, a Corbin seat, and several spare parts – windshield, keys, exhaust pipes, wheel, etc. The seller claims it’s in “beautiful condition and highly maintained”, and he notes that he has all the documentation/receipts to prove that he’s recently installed many new parts.
