Post Sale Update: This time around, it sold. It found a new owner for the BIN of $4,999!
125cc sportbike enthusiasts don’t really get much to play with in the US. You’re more than likely stuck with something imported via the grey market like a Honda RS125 or Aprilia RS125. But if you really want something rare to find in the US, let’s look at a Spaniard – the Derbi GPR.
The 124cc motor produced 33 horsepower, and I’d argue that it’s one of the better looking 125s in modern history. Unlike many bikes of this displacement, this features quality components, many of which were derived from Derbi’s 125 GP race bikes. For more on the Derbi, check out this profile from MCN.
This example (VIN: VTHGS1A1A6H305636) has been put up on eBay several times over the years, and each time the asking price drops. Who knows if this price (just under $5,000) will be the magic number, but the seller claims he’s spent over three times that number on this bike due to a long list of modifications including derestriction, Giannelli exhaust, 28mm Dell’Orto carb (needs some fine tuning), Metrakit front brake disc, filter pod, Boyesen reeds, and more. It has just 500 miles. Though it’s located in Southern California, this Derbi is titled in Florida.
