Post Listing Update: This Virago did not meet reserve with 13 bids up to $820.
The Virago was Yamaha’s entry into the V-Twin cruiser market. It debuted in 1981 with a 750cc engine but Yamaha soon added 900cc and 500cc versions – here’s one of the latter that’s equipped with a rare factory Yamaha X-1 front fairing.
As an ’83, this bike is from the last year before Yamaha switched to a dual-shock design. In a 1983 review, Cycle World said the mid-sized Virago was “fun to ride, feels light and agile, sounds neat, and gets good gas mileage.” For more from that review, check out this link.
This example (VIN: JYA22U009DA0060760) shows 10,692 miles on the odometer. It features the rare Yamaha X-1 fairing with lowers, factory crash bars, OEM tool kit, and factory’s owner manual. You’ll also get a small magnetic tank bag and aftermarket throttle lock. The bike received a recent service which included new tires, oil/filter change, air filter, rebuilt front brake system, new battery, and more. The seller says everything works and the bike runs well, though the right front signal housing is tweaked the right mirror is hard to adjust as the bike has been “over lightly” on th eright side. There’s some touch up paint here and there but this is generally decent shape.
