Post Sale Update: This Arrow Super Sport sold for $3,250 after 27 bids on eBay.
Bike-urious reader Dan Dutra (I’ve featured one of his beautiful Ariel’s in the past) has spent the last 6 months restoring an Ariel Arrow Super Sport (also known as the Golden Arrow). They were not designed for export to the US, so very few have made the journey across the Atlantic Ocean. It’s not perfect (there’s still a couple of last things that need to be taken care of), but here’s your chance to get a rare, interesting Britbike!
Basic specs on the Golden Arrow include a 247cc two-stroke parallel twin that produced 20 horsepower through a 4-speed transmission. Dry weight was just under 300 pounds and the top speed was nearly 80 miles per hour. For more on the Super Sport, I highly recommend that you check out this excellent story on Sump Publishing.
This example (VIN: T-31225-G) shows 8,483 miles on the odometer and Dan has done a great job with the work so far. He notes that there’s still some stuff left for you to do: the horn button needs to be wired, the mirrors are missing, the speedo cable needs to be replaced, and there’s some minor scratches/paint issues. The list of good stuff is much longer, and you should take a look at the listing to see what Dan has done over the last half-year. The bike is titled and has current registration, so snap this up, give it a weekend or two of TLC and then enjoy this Ariel!
