Rare Project – 1980 Honda Cabina

Post Sale Update: This Cabina sold for $880 after 10 bids on eBay in Torrance, California.

At first glance, I thought this was a BMW C1, but it turns out it’s a scoot I had never heard of before – the 50cc Honda Cabina. Designed as a personal commuter ‘which combined the excellent mobility of a motorcycle with the comfort of a car.’

Honda says that this is the first mass-produced motorcycle with a roof and powered wiper. The 49cc 2-stroke single produced approximately 5 horsepower, and the whole thing (including roof) weighed just under 250 pounds. This example is a project that does not currently run, but it’s so rare that I thought it was worth sharing nonetheless.

I highly recommend you check out this video from Honda’s Collection Hall so you can see what it’s like on the move. It also shows off a fantastic feature at 00:25 – a power centerstand!
