Post Listing Update: This Tiger did not meet reserve despite 23 bids up to $10,117.76 on eBay.
1970 was the last year before Triumph went with the Oil-In-Frame design, and the single-carb’d 650 twin was available in 4 options: TR6, TR6C (Competition), TR6P (Police), and this TR6R roadster.
The 650cc motor was good for 42 horsepower and it was paired with a 4-speed transmission. Dry weight is 380 pounds. For more on the ’70 Tiger, check out this article on Classic British Motorcycles.
This example (VIN: GD54126TR6R) has 2,347 miles on the odometer, just 50 of which came after a “no expense spared restoration” by Baxter Cycle in 2012 (it was refreshed again in 2017). Not-so-coincidentally, this bike won 1st Place in the 1963-up, pre oil-in-frame Triumph Twin class at the British & European Classic Motorcycle Day in both those years. The seller is the third owner.
