Post Listing Update: This H2 did not get any interest at the BIN of $25,000.
The H2 earned the moniker of “Widowmaker” thanks to prodigious power combined with a frame, suspension, and tires that couldn’t keep up. But what if you could enjoy the old-school rush with modern suspension and tires? That’s what the builder of this H2 tried to achieve.
This example (VIN: H2F23107) is being sold as new – the motor will need to be broken in. It was bored out to 780cc and has Wiseco pistons, and the seller goes into a long list of work that was done to the drivetrain. Other features include Mikuni 34mm flat slide cars, K&N filters, Danco expansion chambers, Lakeland CDI, and a GPS-enabled speedometer. But the interesting stuff is with the frame and suspension: 2006 Kawasaki ZX-636 suspension front and rear, as well as the foot pegs and rims. The frame has been “modified and strengthened in over a dozen places” including the ability to fit a ZR/17/180 rear tire. The wheelbase has been extend by half an inch, and the curb weight has dropped ~30 pounds to “around 390”.
Cosmetically, the bodywork is OEM but it’s been repainted with 2 clearcoats over Rick Brett decals. All other parts were either “chromed, plated, and painted or replaced with NOS OEM parts. The rest of this bike is brand new, all the way down to every nut, bolt, screw, and washer.” So, what’s the verdict? Old school cool that’s now much more usable, or a compromise of a time machine that you want no part of?
