Restored – 1969 Sachs K-125GS Boondocker

In Dual-Sport, Germany by Abhi1 Comment

Introduced in 1968, the Sachs K-125GS (also known as the Boondocker) was designed to be a competitive turn key entrant for privateer off-road racers. Here’s an example that’s been restored and is nearly perfect – though the opening bid is over 6x the original MSRP of $600.

The Sachs engine was reliable but not fancy – it put out 12.5 horses and required premixing for the oil. Riders also got a leading-link fork, Magura levers, and on the Enduro version shown here, a battery and lights. For more on the Boondocker (what a great name), check out this Retrospective from Rider magazine.

This example (VIN: 555123) was restored and the seller says every part is either original or NOS. It comes with the original California black plate, though the registration is not current. The restoration was done about 6 years ago with an engine/transmission rebuild by Penton expert Doug Wilford. the seller says the bike is started, warmed up, and run through the gears monthly and that everything works. With that said, the “rear wheel requires minor spoke adjustment to run true” and the rear tire has some sidewall cracking.
