Post Sale Update: This CB sold for $9,000 after 35 bids on eBay.

As prices for the sandcast and other early CB’s start to get out of control, it’s starting to make more financial sense to look into later (but still pre-’75) models. Honda made approximately 38,000 examples of the K3, and this lovely Flake Sunrise Orange example is claimed to have been restored to “as produced at the factory”.

This example (VIN: CB750-2230704) had less than 4,000 miles when the restoration started, and the seller does a decent job of explaining what work was performed. The bike was supposedly discovered as a “barn find” in December of 2004, though restoration work did not begin until 2015. The seller did almost all of the work himself, and notes that nearly 1,200 parts were used to bring this bike to its current state. He has a substantial PDF of build notes and links to videos in the listing. It’s one of the more impressive listings I’ve seen in a while – even if you’re not looking for a CB I’d suggest you take a look at the details included.
