Post Sale Update: After 8 bids on eBay, this KZ sold for $10,700.
The successor to the Z1, Kawasaki’s KZ900 was sold as a reliable big bike that could tour or go fast maybe even doing both at the same time! This example has been ‘beautifully restored and it’s ready for the next 40 years of life.’
Basics on the Kawi included a dry weight of 511 pounds and 82 horsepower, which yielded a top speed of 120 miles per hour. Check out Motorcycle Classics if you want to learn more about the KZ900 and how successful it was as the “Son of the Z1”.
There’s a long list of work that’s been done to this, but the seller simply says that there’s no excuses and everything works like it should. The bodywork was stripped down and repainted, the engine was given a complete rebuild, the wheels where re-laced with Buchanan spokes, and the gauges were restored by Z-Resto.
