Post Listing Update: This R90S did not meet reserve despite 43 bids up to $12,799 on eBay in Scottsdale, Arizona.

The R90S is one of BMW’s most famous bikes, and it was an instant game-changer when it was released in 1974. With oversight from Hans Muth, this bike was built to show the world that the German firm could make more than just touring bikes. Reg Pridmore helped solidify that claim with a first place finish in the first ever AMA Superbike Championship series in 1976. Originally sold in Las Vegas, Nevada, this R90S was given a frame off restoration in 2010 that lasted about a year.

The work on this example (VIN: 4950129) included a repaint of the difficult OEM smoke scheme by The Warkshop – how do you think they did? Bob’s BMW supplied parts and MotoGhost handled the “mechanical overhaul.” The restoration was commissioned by a previous owner who has since passed away, the seller is assisting the owner’s son with the sale. True mileage is unknown, but 1,445 miles have been covered since the restoration.
