5-1-2018 Update: Almost exactly two years to the day, this plated IT490 is back up for sale, but this time it’s on eBay. It doesn’t look like anything significant has been changed, so find this blue Yammy for sale in Longwood, Florida with bidding up to $2,750 and the reserve not yet met

In 1983, Yamaha introduced the IT490, an evolution of the 465 and the biggest of the “International Trial” line. It was a heavy, powerful bike that was ideal for enduro or cross-country riding, though they had a nasty habit of pinging when the engine got hot. This example has been ‘completely restored’ and it’s been given several modifications to deal with the pre-ignition.

Higlights of the work include several new OEM parts in the engine, Wiseco .50 over piston, Progressive fork springs, Barnett heavy duty clutch, Clarke fuel tank, and modifications to the carb and cylinder head to help with the pinging. The engine was just broken-in according to the procedure from Duncan Racing. Bonus points as this bike is titled as a street bike in Florida, so you could turn it into a cool vintage supermoto.
