Remember the Super Single race series I’ve mentioned before when featuring bikes like this Yamaha or this Kawasaki? You may remember that Roland Sands Design built those prototypes. Aprilia apparently thought they could do it better with their supermoto, so they commissioned RSD to build a similar prototype with their SVX 450. According to the seller of this bike, RSD also built another similar bike, this time with the bigger 550 engine – and that’s now up for grabs.
In 2010, Visordown called the Aprilia SVX the best supermoto of its time – primarily due to the incredible engine. The twin (as opposed to the usual singles of supermoto) put out 70 horsepower and walked away from the competition.
This example (VIN: ZD4VSC5087S000504) has 2,216 miles and I’m a bit surprised to say that despite the work from RSD, I don’t think the design lines flow very well. In addition, I suspect his bike is now less fun in its current format than it was as a supermoto – there’s just something about that riding posture and the wide bars – but this would definitely be an interesting, unique ride. Plus, unlike the RVX, the SVX was street legal. Find this Aprilia road racer for sale in Danbry, Connecticut with a BIN of $12,500 or best offer
