With the rise of the automobile, motorcycle companies were forced to respond in the way of producing utilitarian scoot-based machines with the most common example being the Harley-Davidson Servicar. These machines were manufactured from 1932 to 1975 and saw dozens of changes and updates in its 43 years of production with some models having a car-like rear differential. While this particular Servicar is far from stock, it’s nonetheless an interesting custom build that was completed from the ground up.
This ’67 is powered by a ’45 Flathead (w/kickstart) inhaling through a 38mm Mikuni carb. This one-off Harley features a 3-speed hand-operated (jockey) shifter and foot activated clutch, furthering the vintage character of this custom build. This Servicar also sports a beautiful custom metal-flake paint job along with several one-off parts made for this project such as the bike’s tail-lights.
The entire project was completed from start to finish by custom builder: “Dennis of Aldon, NY” who built the machine’s custom rear-frame and also produced the Servicar’s one-off “bed”. Other custom touches such as hand painted pin-striping, handmade leather seat and whitewall tires all add to the half-century-old character this three-wheeler possesses. This example clearly took a lot of its inspiration from the Ed “Big Daddy” Roth style horror of the 1960’s and 1970’s, with a subtle Ratfink sticker validating my observation.
Aside from the seller mentioning that the Mikuni carb could use a little tuning, this Harley is in fantastic shape mechanically. You can find this one-off 1967 Harley-Davidson Servicar build for sale here on Craigslist in New York State (the seller wishes to keep his exact location private) with a price of $18,000.
