With just 58 and 98 miles respectively, these Yamaha TW200s are the lowest mileage examples I’ve ever seen. But does that matter?
The story behind these bikes is somewhat interesting – apparently a retired Yamaha mechanic had these delivered still in the crate to his place in Nevada. The first ride took him and his wife from their home to Lake Mead, where Rangers pulled them over and wrote them tickets for riding on protected land. The fine? $1,000 each! The owners were so pissed that they put the bikes away…for 21 years. So goes the story, at least. The bikes were discovered again in an estate sale, and they’ve been brought back to life with new batteries and a fuel system cleaning. That included aftermarket petcocks and fuel lines – the seller has OEM replacements but he/she has not installed them yet.
The sale will include all original sale documents and multiple photos “showing the delivery, uncrating and assembly of the TW’s.” The bikes were apparently never titled. In the seller’s words, the 58 miles bike is basically perfect, but the 98 mile bike has some superficial scratches and a swipe of white paint.
