After 38 years in storage with just 11,754 miles on the odometer, this R50/2 is ready for a new owner. The engine was apparently prepped for storage before it was put away, so the tank, carbs, and engine oil all look “excellent” per the seller.
According to BMW’s Archive Group, this bike (VIN: 644110) was built on 1/11/67 and was delivered to Butler & Smith in New York City. The seller has made no attempt to start the engine, though he/she says it turns freely. Ignoring the cracked windshield, it seems like there’s a nice looking bike under all that dust. It also comes with the original tool kit (which is missing some stuff), the original license plate, a rear luggage rack and leather bags with the key. Missing pieces include the key for the gas tank/fork lock and the mirrors.
