Back in 2016, Indian Motorcycle joined forces with iconic American whiskey purveyor Jack Daniel’s to introduce limited edition versions of the Springfield and Chief Vintage. The collaborative effort instantly proved itself to be a hit, with all 150 units being snapped up in just eight-hours of the limited edition’s release.
After a wildly successful first year, Indian introduced a new JD-spec model for 2017 with Jack Daniel’s Edition Chieftain. On Monday, March 12, 2018 at noon, America’s oldest moto marque began taking preorders on the new limited edition mount. By 12:10 — just ten minutes after going live — all 100 units were spoken for. The special edition model is adorned in a white and “black crystal” paint job with charcoal highlights — the latter of which is supposedly inspired by Jack Daniel’s charcoal mellowing process.
On top of the JD-themed livery, the limited edition Chieftain also got a power adjustable windscreen, LED lighting, 200-watt premium audio system complete with saddlebag speakers, Indian’s “Ride Command” infotainment system, unique primary, cam, and intake covers, logoed billet pegs, leather tank pouch, and 19-inch contrast cut front wheel. There’s also a special Jack Daniel’s horn-cover badge, hand-made and comprised of pure silver.
For 2018 Indian and JD teamed up once again, this time to deliver the Jack Daniel’s Edition Scout Bobber — a model that paid tribute to Jack Daniel’s (volunteer) Fire Brigade. Based on the success of the first three years, it’s pretty much a forgone conclusion that 2019 will see another Jack Daniel’s edition offering from the Polaris-owned subsidiary. (It would be weird to see a JD FTR!)
The 2017 limited edition bike’s $34,999 MSRP also got you a free one-year membership to the Indian Motorcycle Riders Group, as well as a two-year unlimited mileage factory warranty, though that’s gotta be ending any day now if it hasn’t already. This particular Jack Daniel’s edition Chieftain appears to be in fantastic shape, reportedly having been garage kept its entire life. According to the seller, only 780 miles have been put on this tricked out bagger, plus the ad claims some $3K in extras have been added to the mix. Based on how quickly this model originally sold out, this could be a great opportunity for someone to get their hands on one of these, and save a few bucks in the process.
You can find this 2017 Indian Jack Daniel’s Edition Chieftain (VIN: 56KTCEAA5H3354478) for sale here on Craigslist in Staten Island, New York with a price of $29,000.
