4-2-2021 Update: 2+ years later, it looks like this Final Edition found a new home as it’s now in Texas. It’s also back up for sale with the same mileage, so find it in Frisco, Texas with bidding up to $12,899 and the reserve not yet met or a BIN of $24,999 here on eBay.
Post Listing Update: This Ducati did not meet reserve despite 8 bids up to $19,050.
12-11-18 Update: A month later, this bike is now on eBay so we can see what the market thinks it’s worth. Everything seems to be the same, though there’s now additional information in that the most recent owner was IndyCar racer Graham Rahal. Considering that this dealership (Pro Italia) just put up a weird “Race” version of the 1000DS on Bring a Trailer, it looks like they’re in charge of selling off at least a couple of vehicles from Rahal’s collection. Find this 998S Final Edition for sale in Glendale, California with bidding up to $18,300 and the reserve not yet met or a BIN of $25,400 (a $3,000+ discount from the last asking price)
The 998S Final Edition was the end of an era. It was the last evolution of the 916, which I maintain is one of the most beautiful motorcycles ever built. To cap it all off, Ducati created a Final Edition (FE) that was only available by special order. A dealership in California has secured an example from a collection in Pennsylvania that was never dealer prepped or registered so it’s still on the MSO.
The 998S FE was available as a monoposto or biposto. With the exception of the “Final Edition” decals, it was pretty much the same as the 998S – same engine but Brembo four-piston calipers and upgraded Ohlins suspension bits. There isn’t much to say about this example as it’s as close to new as you’ll find, but the sale includes the MSO, tool kit, and a 2004 Ducati parts catalog.
Find this 998S FE for sale in Glendale, California for $28,995 here at Pro Italia.
