Moto3 bikes are not your typical 250’s. With a 0-100kph in under 3 seconds and a top-speed of 250kph, these are undeniably professional-grade race-machines. RedBull did a cool article discussing Jack Miller’s KTM Moto3 Ride that you can read about here for more info on this featherweight 250’s.
Though the engines on Moto3ers are only a fraction of the size of the Moto2 and premier class bikes, it’s their ultra-lightweight components that allow these 250’s to clock surprisingly fast lap times. Hence HRC’s statement, describing these machines as: “Light weight, Compact, High-Output and High-Efficiency”. The NSF250R is powered by a liquid-cooled four-stroke 249cc DOHC single engine that is attached to a wet-clutch and constant-mesh 6-speed tranny.
Housing the little single-cylinder workhorse is a pressed-aluminum twin-tube frame which was based on the older RS125’s chassis (though the stiffness was clearly increased). All together this bike weighs in at only 185 pounds. Lightweight racers can be incredibly fun to pilot around a track. I personally have an Aprilia RS125 in my stable and I have just as much fun with it on trackdays as I do my 600. I’ve never ridden a Moto3 machine but I imagine they would take the experience offered by my 125 and noticeably amplify it.
Despite other manufacturers producing pro-grade race machines, the HRC name still carries a ton of weight in the competitive two-wheeled racing world and the NSF250R is certainly no exception. Padgett’s Motorcycles is the official UK supplier of these HRC Moto3 machines. This racer is a fresh coat of paint away from being 100% competition-ready. You can find this 2015 HRC NSF250R racer for sale here at Padgett’s Motorcycles in Batley, England with a price of $17,400 (or £13,680).
