This year marks the 10th running of the MotoGP Rookies Cup, and the 7 race series starts this weekend in Jerez, Spain. If you’re a junkie for road racing, you can watch this race online as the rookies compete the same weekend on the same track as their MotoGP idols.

Over the last almost-decade, a few ex-Rookies have moved on up – in fact, last year’s Moto2 and Moto3 World Champions went through this program. We’re still waiting for the first competitor to make it all the way up to MotoGP. Currently the Rookies compete on identical 4-stroke KTM 250 race bikes, which is supposed to be similar to the factory KTM Moto3 racer. The sole US rider is 14 year-old Sean Kelly from Hollywood, Florida.
