Post Sale Update: After 40 bids on eBay, this TZ250 sold for $7,600.
Introduced in 1973, Yamaha’s TZ250 was instantly competitive in club racing and was even able to make a dent at the GP level with a few modifications. What’s so impressive about this bike is that (thanks to the aftermarket) it was successful for 3 decades. This example stands out as it’s one of the few available with a license plate for those of you want that want to add a bit of excitement to your weekend canyon carving!
Yamaha evolved the TZ over the years, though the ’78 bike didn’t offer too much above the major revisions made in ’76. Those included a monoshock frame, disc brakes, and revised porting among other modifications. The motor produced 53 horsepower at 10,500 rpm. This bike (VIN: 430996317) is titled and plated, and the seller says it “runs and rides good.” The seller has a few spare parts including pistons, rings, another windscreen, and the “original Mikuni carbs” – it’s unclear to me what’s handling the fueling duties right now. Terrorize the streets or your local vintage raceday. Either way, you’re going to have a blast. Find this TZ250 for sale in Lake Helen, Florida with bidding up to $5,600 and the reserve not yet met
