In 1994, Cagiva updated the styling of their little Mito 125 with a redesign by none other than Massimo Tamburini – that’s why it looks like like his iconic 916! These are absurdly rare in the United States (according to Mecum, just 20 were imported in 2000), and this one is extra special for residents of California because it’s plated here.
The 125cc 2-stroke engine put out just shy of 30 horsepower when derestricted – compare that to the Honda Grom which produces about 8 horsepower from the same size engine. Or consider that if a 1,000cc bike had the same power/displacement ratio, it’d be putting out 240hp! It features great components like Brembo brakes, USD Marzocchi forks, and a 7 speed transmission. The diminutive size and aluminum frame (even the Japanese 600s were still using steel when this was first rolled out) contributed to a dry weight of just 276 pounds. As the seller puts it:
“Is it fast? Not really.
Is it slow? No. ”
The bike has approximately 3,100 miles but the seller says it’s too cramped for his 6’2″ frame and he’d rather have someone else enjoy it than keep it parked. Unfortunately, it looks like it’s been dropped on the left side as there’s cracks in the left fairing and scratches on the tank. Find this Mito for sale in Boulder Creek, California for $6,000 or best offer here on Craigslist.
