Aprilia’s SXV550 was an absolute monster that journalists fell in love with as soon as it was released. A supermoto with a powerful V-Twin, excellent components, and race-bred pedigree: the bike had already won the S2 World Supermoto Championship as a prototype before it was released to the world. Unfortunately, the early bikes had serious issues with the sealant used in the engine cases. If spotted early, you could reseal the motor and everything would be fine. If not, water would get into the oil and you’d be looking at a V-Twin paperweight. This bike is said to have a ‘good’ motor, and it’s been converted to a road racer a la a Super Single. For more on the stock bike, check out this article from MCN.
The conversion is said to be “professionally done”, but it’s not completed. There’s a couple of bodywork issues that need to be taken care of – the exhaust and tail still have to be attached. the sale includes a new SXV supermoto with a motor as a parts bike. It’s a good setup for someone who wants to race short courses, but it’s also street legal if you want to go crazy on a commute for some reason. Find this Aprilia road racer for sale here on Craigslist near Oakland, California for $7,000.
