10/21 Update: This BMW R75/7 has been relisted on Craigslist at the same price.
The BMW R75/7 was a surprisingly rare version of the 750cc boxer twin from BMW. Produced for less than a couple of years before the R80 was introduced, only 1,400 of these bikes were imported into the states.
Classic motorcycle aficionados are familiar with the R75/5 and the R75/6, and this bike features more of the same from a time when the BMW name was synonymous with simplicity and reliability. Changes from the /6 are few – you got a slightly longer tank (and thus, a slightly shorter seat), and the squared-off valve covers that were painted black, as opposed to the more traditional aluminum ‘peanut’ covers.
This specific BMW R75/7 has less than 10,000 miles over it’s long life, as it spent 3 decades in storage and was brought back to life just this year. It features the lovely (and rare) Havana Gold paint, and has had about 500 shakedown miles recently put on it to make sure it’s running well. You’ll also get the original tool kit and owner’s manual. 10/21 – The seller is now also throwing in a set of Krauser bags. Not bad!
