Post Listing Update: This R32 was pulled off of eBay due to “an error in the listing.”
The seller of this piece of history doesn’t have much to say but he does correctly state, “I know you have [a] lot of questions”. Interested buyers are definitely going to have a lot of questions, because the R32 is the first motorcycle BMW ever built. It features a boxer twin motor and shaft drive – sound familiar?
The R32 was built between 1923 and 1926, and the 494cc twin was good for 8.5 horsepower. 3,090 were built and Bonhams estimates that approximately 60 R32s are still known to exist. Speedometers were optional but you didn’t even get a choice with the front brake, at least in the first year of production. For more information on BMW’s first bike, check out BMW Dean.
As noted above, there isn’t much information about this one, except that it runs and shifts. Find this R32 for sale in Hamburg, Germany with an unmet opening bid of $165,000
