June 22nd, 2014 – Pouce Coupe, BC to Banff National Park, AB ~500 miles
The sun rises on our little slice of Pouce Coupe Regional Park:
One of the brothers had a tire that kept going flat. For the first time ever, I was prepared thanks to the fact that one of my valve stem caps has an integrated core remover.
Turned out the problem was something else that he was able to solve. So we took off, and in the process checked off another province:
This sign is supposed to warn you about upcoming caribou – but from different angles, at speed, it looks like an actual caribou about to cross the road. This actually got me to slow down.
If a tire like that still needs chains, you know it spends some time in absurd terrain and/or weather:

It’s incredible how these goats are able to navigate such steep terrain.
