June 25th, 2014 – Twin Falls, ID to Fremont, CA ~690 miles
The day before, Bui threw out an idea – we were already near the end of the trip, and we didn’t have anything exciting planned for the state of Nevada. How about we just head straight back to Fremont and get back to our homes one day earlier? After 3 weeks from home, I was all too eager to take him up on it. After about 9,000 miles, what was another 700 in one day?
Got stopped with some construction on a highway. The guy in front of us hopped out of his van to see what was going on – I was trying to figure out what he had stuffed inside of his shirt behind his neck.
I was incredibly impressed with my Heidenau K60 Scouts. Not only did they conquer the Dalton, but this is how much tread was still on them after about 9,500 miles! They’re pricey, but I’d say they’ve been worth it.
I got bored of waiting so I just sat down and relaxed on the pavement.
When we finally started moving again, Bui worked off some of his boredom by slaloming through cones.
I wonder what was going through the head of the guy that named this road.
Rat Fink sighting! This van was somehow affiliated with the late Big Daddy Roth.
Entering Nevada – our 10th state/province of the trip.
And just like that, we were back in good ol’ California.
From then on it was just another 200+ mile slog to get to Fremont to friends and family. I’d get to have one more night away from home before I headed back to Los Angeles.
Go back to Day 21:
