Backcountry Discovery Routes is hosting their 6th Annual Holiday Auction, and one of the listings is for an experience I’ve done myself and can’t recommend enough – a self-guided motorcycle tour of Costa Rica for 2 people over 7 days. It’s put on by Elephant Moto, an official BMW Motorrad partner that will give you your choice of a F700GS, F800GS, or R1200GS with full luggage, insurance, roadside assistance, and a GPS with the route pre-loaded. They’ll get you from the airport – you just have to fly in and have a good time.

You’ll have to take your tour in 2022, and the rough itinerary is:
Day 1 – Irazu-Turrialba-Dota
Day 2 – Manual Antonio
Day 3 – Santa Teresa
Day 4 – Samara – Tamarindo
Day 5 – Day off
Day 6 – Arenal – La Fortuna
Day 7 – Poas – Santa Ana

The experience being auctioned off is very similar to what Vy and I did for New Year’s in 2019, though the route will be different (Chris at Elephant Moto created a custom route for us that put a priority on wildlife as that’s what Vy wanted to see). You can check out my ride report here if you missed it or just want some inspiration, because Chris can also tailor the above route to go all pavement or include more dirt if you wish. Either way, you’ll have a blast.
