The Triumph Rocket III made quite the stir when it first came out in 2004, as it had the largest displacement engine fitted to mass production motorcycle – a whopping 2.3L unit that put out 140 hp. Fun fact: the STARTER motor on this bike makes as much power as Triumph’s first-ever motorcycle – just about 1.75 horses.
The seller of this bike decided 140 horsepower wasn’t enough, so he’s slapped a turbo onto this engine – now it’s good for “~200 hp.”
Quick tangent – featuring this bike allows me to share a promotional video from Triumph on how the Rocket III was built, with un-PC quotes like, “Argument juice is added from the argument lobe of the female brain allowing the finished bike to change direction in an instant, improving handling.”
Back to this bike: the turbo and 3 into 1 exhaust were installed in 2007, it’s unclear how many of the 8,300 miles on the odometer were put on before installation. The bike comes with a few accessories to keep you comfortable as you put down BMW S1000RR levels of power: touring windshield, saddlebags, backrest, heated hand grips, and dresser handlebars. Find this turbocharged Rocket III for sale here on Craigslist in Easton, Pennsylvania for $16,500.
