Post Sale Update: This GN125 sold for $975.
When Vy first learned how to ride a bike, she used a Suzuki GN125 courtesy of the California MSF program. They’re solid little runabouts that have served as first bikes for many, though they aren’t exactly what I would call stylish. I don’t consider them a big platform for customs, either, which makes this worth a second look.
What I love about this bike is that it’s the seller first bike and he customized it himself. I spoke to him briefly about it – he tried to capture a little styling from the Ducati 900SS, and that’s what inspired the sidecovers, turn signal indicators, and the fairing (the last of which an aftermarket replica of a Ducati 250 single). No, you’re not going to fool anyone, but it’s an unexpected dash of style from a first bike. The seller has just upgraded to a Honda CB250 Nighthawk and I hope he tries something different with that bike as well.
This example (VIN: JS1NF41AOP2100756) has 6,950 miles but that will go up slightly. The seller acquired it with about half the mileage two years ago, and he’s done a lot of work since. In addition to the styling changes, this got an upgraded headlight, new OEM Mikuni carb, Brembo brake caliper, new sprockets, a new aftermarket fuel tank, Acewell tach/computer, upgraded rear shocks that have increased the seat height by 1 inch, and more. The paint isn’t perfect but overall this is in decent shape for the age. People that don’t like Groms will probably have similar complaints about this, but I like that it’s different. Hopefully you do, too.
