Post Sale Update: This RGV250 sold for $10,200 after 16 bids on eBay in Mechanicsville, Virginia.
When Suzuki introduced the RGV250, it was a revelation. MCN put it thusly: “back in the day 250cc race replicas were the sharpest handling, most frenzied, maddest things you could buy on two wheels. Nowadays the RGV250 is a modern classic and is probably a bit slower and softer than you’d remember. It still looks good, sounds amazing and the smell of burning two-stroke oil will take you right back. Put simply, it’s still sensational.”
This example has been heavily modified with an adjustable Nitron shock, Sugaya exhaust, Tyga carbon fiber rear hugger, Cougar power valves, mild street porting and head work by Ed Toomey, the radial front brake master cylinder from a GSX-R600, Zeeltronic ignition controller, and of course, a beautiful Lucky Strike paint job. Though the forks look like Ohlins units, that’s just cosmetic – however the forks were upgraded with Racetech bushings and Andreani Misano fork cartridges (compression in one leg, rebound in the other).
