At this year’s Quail Motorcycle Gathering, you may remember that I briefly mentioned the debut of the EVA, an electric streetfighter from Energica. Well, turns out they worked with Cycle World to ride their debut bike from Los Angeles to San Francisco, and produce three short videos documenting the trip. Here’s part 1 – the ride from Santa Monica to Carmel.
What I thought was impressive was that they covered 350 miles in the first day on an electric bike. With the stated average speed of 60 miles per hour you’re obviously looking at just shy of 6 hours on the road. According to Cycle World, “Bill rides a total of 450 miles, with nine fast charging stops, taking 23 minutes each checkpoint thanks to the Energica fast charge system and the ChargePoint network.” Normally charging time is apparently 3.5 hours, which isn’t horrible.
For more on the ride up, head on over to Cycle World.
