James May and his Top Gear cohorts are back up to their usual shenanigans with the Grand Tour, though as I’m sure you know by now that the new show is on Amazon. The BBC didn’t lose James for good, as he’s got a new show called The Reassembler and it’s oddly fascinating. The concept is simple – he gives you the history about a certain project, and then you watch him put it together. As a piece of entertainment, the idea sounds terrible. Yet I’ve found it to be quite enjoyable and educational. Ever since the series started, I’ve been hoping that James would tackle a motorcycle. Well, my prayers have been answered as the most recent episode is of a Honda Mini Trail.
Starting with 303 parts, James puts this bike together in a 30 minute episode. Per the BBC’s description: “This is an object James can’t wait to reassemble, but along the way he faces a very real and very hostile battle with some springs, ponders over correct workshop etiquette and contemplates the lifelong debate – what’s the difference between a bolt and a screw?”
