Homer Knapp was a legendary gearhead who founded Hollywood Motorcycle Machine back in 1966. Unfortunately, he passed away late last year, and his bikes have been moving on to their next owners thanks to Classic Motorcycle Consignments – hopefully you’ve seen their ad on the sidebar as they’re a Bike-urious sponsor. Of Homer’s extensive motorcycle collection, one of the most memorable has to be this Harley JD Twin (some sources call it a ’28, some call it a ’29) that he rode at the Catalina GP in the 60s and then again in the 50th Anniversary Race in 2012!
It’s listed on eBay below but it’s also available directly through the CMC website for $45,000 or best offer that comes in by tomorrow (September 10). The sale includes all known history and pictures, which includes images from historic races. Sounds like it was last run in 2012 and it may not have been prepped for storage, but the sale will come with the title, story board (used when the bike was on display), and a ’54 California registration form.
The paint is claimed to be original, and it’s accented with decals that were added by Mr. Knapp. The metal is mostly original and has several dings and dents, as you’d expect. The bike is said to run but it will need some tuning and minimal maintenance. Find this gorgeous Harley for sale in Costa Mesa, California with an unmet opening bid of $29,999
