Post Listing Update: This NR did not meet reserve with 7 bids up to $62,600.
Also known as the RC40, the NR (New Racing) was a technological showcase for Honda that featured oval pistons, a 16-bit sensor with 7 sensors to control the fuel injection, carbon fiber bodywork and a titanium-tinted screen. With all of that tech, this bike retailed at around $50k – 5 times as much as their previous top of the line sportbike.
People have started calling it the NR750, though that’s technically wrong. That name belongs to a racebike Honda developed in the 80s. Just 300 NR’s were built, and because they couldn’t be homologated for racing, Honda decided to set some records instead. They tuned an example to 150 horsepower, then lightened it to 396 pounds (from the original weight of 489 pounds), the let Loris Capirossi (of MotoGP fame) go nuts on it. In the process he set new world records for the flying mile, standing mile, flying kilometer, and standing 10 kilometer. Not bad.
This example annoyingly does not come with much information, but the seller says it’s ready to ride with new tires and a fresh tune-up. It was also previously owned by Nicholas Cage, for what that’s worth. Find this NR for sale in Henrico, Virginia with bidding up to $50,100 and the reserve not yet met
