Weird Project – 1991 Bimota Tesi 1D

Post-Sale Update: After 30 bids on eBay, this Tesi 1D sold for $13,101.

Someone please help me understand what’s happened here. As far as I can tell, someone has butchered up a legendary Tesi 1D and now someone else is going to save it.

I’m typically not someone who insists that bikes never got modified, but if you’re going to modify a Tesi (just 127 were produced), it better be for something incredible. At this point, we’ve got a re-body (one piece seat/fender/tank), the engine from a Ducati Monster 900 (the original bike had a 851 unit), Conti mufflers, and some Triumph Street Triple-esque headlights. Oh, and it doesn’t seem to be running at the moment.

It seems that the seller has a lot of the original bodywork, but it’s not 100% clear what’s included and what’s been lost over the years. Still, this bike is worth saving. Who’s going to do it? Find this Tesi 1D for sale in San Ramon, California with bidding up to $11,100
