Post-Listing Update: This GS1000E did not meet reserve with bidding up to $3,350 on eBay.
Considered by some to be the best 1000cc four-cylinder of its time, the GS1000 was based on the 750 but had many improvements – Cycle magazine called this bike the “best handling multi of all.” This example takes it even further with plenty of suspension work and other upgrades.
The 997cc four-cylinder DOHC engine produced 75 horsepower, which was enough to get the 548 pound bike up to about 139 miles per hour. For more on the GS1000E and what made it so remarkable, check out this write-up from Vintage Motorcycles Online.
This specific Suzuki GS1000E has received a replacement motor but has all kinds of goodies everywhere else – Race Tech gold cartridge emulators in the front forks, Harrison 4 piston aluminum brake calipers, EBC rotors, Moto GPWORKS stainless exhaust, Keihin CR29 carbs, the swingarm from a GS1100, and Ohlins S36PR1C1LB fully adjustable shocks. You’ll also get some extra parts that have not yet been installed like a Lockhart oil cooler. The bike looks great and clearly has had some thought (and dollars) put into upgrades.
