I got to review the Aprilia RS 660 about five months ago, and one of my main takeaways was that it made me really anxious to try the upcoming Tuono 660. That time has finally come, which means I want to tell you everything I can about it. Help me help you – what do you want to know about the Tuono 660?
In Aprilia’s words, “two universes collide…the legendary Tuono V4 1100 meets the advanced technology of the RS 660 to create the Tuono 660, a motorbike destined to shake up the way you look at the world. Introducing the Tuono 660, the new generation of a versatile naked sportbike. Fun, easy and a heartbreaker on the aesthetics front, its potent combination of power and extraordinary lightness delivers a truly breathtaking and unique riding experience.”
I agree that it’s a heartbreaker when it comes to aesthetics, but I say it in a sad way because I don’t think it looks as good as the RS 660 AND Aprilia ditched the amazing Lava Red livery! They’ve replaced it with Iridium Silver, which is…fine.
The other two color options are shared with the RS: Concept Black and Acid Gold.
Despite that, there’s going to be a lot to love if:
a.) the pre-production issues I saw on the RS 660 have been addressed.
b.) it performs almost as well as the RS 660.
c.) it’s a little more comfortable than the RS6 60.
I’m very excited to find out! Until then, here’s some basic specs (and here’s the full spec list):
Horsepower: 100 hp (at crank)
Torque: 49 lb-ft (at crank)
Front Suspension: KYB 41mm forks. 110mm travel, rebound/preload adjustable.
Rear Suspension: Manufacturer unspecified. 130mm travel, rebound/preload adjustable.
Dry Weight: 403 pounds
Seat Height: 32.3 inches
Fuel Tank Size: 3.96 gallons
Miles Per Gallon: 48
