It’s that wonderful time of year again – the Quail Motorcycle Gathering is tomorrow! Will I see you there?
To me, the Quail is the perfect combination of motorcycles, people, and ambiance, all set in beautiful Carmel, California. That means people like me in Southern California get to make the experience even better by riding up incredible roads like the 33 and the Pacific Coast Highway. Friday is the Quail Ride, a 100-mile loop through the Monterey Peninsula which includes a few laps at Laguna Seca. But today I’ll just be enjoying some excellent public roads as I head north on my BMW HP2 Megamoto.
This year there will be over 350 two-wheelers on display, though I’m a little concerned to hear that will be some cars as well. We’ll see how that goes. In addition to the usual categories, this year the Quail will five Featured Classes:
– Harley-Davidson XR750
– BMW /5 Series
– Two-Stroke “Braaaps” (the Quail actually asked me to write a little featurette for this class in their program, which I was honored to do)
– mini bikes | BIG FUN
– the aforementioned “Hot Rods & Classic Cars”, though this is just for display and will not be eligible for judging.
So, it’s time for a roll call. Are you showing up? Leave a comment below and I’ll keep an eye out for you. And if you see me first, please don’t hesitate to interrupt whatever I’m doing and say hi!
