If you live near Los Angeles and love watching MotoGP, then I hope you know about the Downtown Independent theater. On Sundays from 2-4pm they show the MotoGP race from the day before. All you have to do is avoid spoilers and then you get to watch qualifying and the race with a large group of passionate motorcyclists – it’s a great atmosphere. I bring all that up because when I was there a couple of weeks ago I met Lydia L., Co-Founder and CFO of LA Motopolitan. If I’m allowed to oversimplify, it’s a motorcycle taxi but with the convenience of Lyft or Uber because you can schedule online or with a phone app. Obviously, I love riding, but I felt a little weird about getting on the back of someone else’s bike and being transported around (don’t tell Vy I said that). I’m curious to see how other people feel about this issue, so I’m throwing it out there: would you take a motorcycle taxi?
It’s common in other countries but I haven’t heard of a service like this in the US yet. I might try this out just for a story, but it looks like the general idea is that you book your ride, the rider arrives with a Goldwing, jacket, gloves, and a helmet with a Bluetooth headset on it so you talk to the dirver or make calls/listen to music on your phone. Then you get whisked around while splitting lanes between all the slow pokes in Lyfts or Ubers.

So, what do you think? Would you use this service? I know I’m asking a group of riders and not the average member of the public, but I’d love to know your feelings on this so answer the yes/no below and leave a comment if you’ve got more to say!
