When first introduced, they were thought to be clunky and ill tempered, but over the years the company made many subtle changes that left them with the reputation of fast and dependable. <\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/cdn1.cycletrader.com\/v1\/media\/56a80bb42f0682693658ef05.jpg?resize=881%2C661&ssl=1\" width=\"881\" height=\"661\" class=\"aligncenter\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This particular Flying Squirrel is from late in 1948 as it has telescopic front forks (air over) and is listed as an \u2018older restoration\u2019. Only the 596 cc (600) variant was produced after the war which produced 30 HP. A three speed transmission pushed actual top speed to 80 MPH.
